Romney's Drug War Answers Defy 'Reason'

I'm not a person who naturally enjoys schmoozing around with politicians, but I admit I actually had fun attending the "Ask Mitt Anything" event in Bedford, NH, on July 25.

 

I walked in dressed as Joe Independent Voter (which is what I am), chose an aisle seat, and spent some time proofreading Gov. Romney's campaign literature.

 

(There was only one big mistake -- the term "conservative principals." Chuckling, I pictured a cadre of stuffy school administrators in suits.)

 

And then, having played my cards right, I actually got my chance to ask Gov. Romney a nice, polite question about the War on Drugs.

(Sullum, for those who don't know, wrote a truly excellent book called Saying Yes: In Defense of Drug Use -- the book is based on his interviews with responsible, successful people who happen to enjoy illegal substances).
